Cortney’s practice focuses on advising businesses and business owners while also handling a wide variety of real estate transactions. He practiced law in Idaho at Beard St. Clair Gaffney before returning to his hometown of Utah to work with a property management company in Park City. Afterwards, Cortney held a corporate counsel position with a company in Provo, Utah. He has advised several small and medium size businesses and their owners on business formation, risk management, litigation management, and operations.
In 2006, Cortney graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Cortney then graduated from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham Alabama in 2009. In addition, he also completed a semester abroad at Temple University Beasely School of Law in Tokyo, Japan.
Cortney is admitted to practice law in Utah and is a member of the Real Estate, Construction, and Corporate Counsel sections of the Utah Bar.
Cortney was raised in Midway, Utah and currently lives there with his wife and four children. He enjoys playing soccer, watching and coaching his children play soccer, outdoor activities with his family, travelling, and watching sports.
